What is bookkeeping? Bookkeeping is an accounting service, a process of recording, and classifying financial transactions within a business - the activities of the business so to speak. Plainly put, bookkeeping would maintain all records of any financial arrangements of the individual or a business. Your accounting information needs to be stored in a highly usable form, one that can provide your information to any business, such as ours, for stocktaking purposes. Your accountant would normally setup all bookkeeping systems; they would then record all of the daily business, turning it over to the manger or owner of the business at a certain point for scrutiny.

In bookkeeping, there are a few systems that can be employed in order to keep your business transactions on the straight and narrow. Two of the more popular ones include the single entry system and the double entry system. The single entry system is a more informal style of bookkeeping, whereby the user of the system would only make a single entry in order to record financial transactions. For an example of this, a chequebook would be an excellent case in point. For any standard business, a double entry system would work out best, as it clearly displays the two-fold effect of debiting and crediting. For an effective bookkeeping service, trust Rae and Associates every time.
